Wraith of Autumn

I simultaneously love and hate this outfit. Love it, because it looks so cool. And hate it, because they don’t have enough shades of green dye to get an exact match.

Seriously, does anyone know the last time they added more dyes to the game? Can we please have more????

Basically, I wanted to do this outfit in ashenslades green. And it looked great. Except the shoulders I used aren’t dyable – they come with a default color, and that’s it. And the way the head dyed, even though it matched the dress pretty closely, the slight difference in green between the head and shoulders and the chest just looked…weird.

In the end, I settled for using olive dye for the head. Again, it didn’t quite match the dress, but honestly it was as good of a fit as the ashenslades green, and it didn’t make the slightly different green of the shoulders stand out. And yes, I did play around with dying the dress dark mossy green instead, to closer match the shoulders, but I couldn’t get rid of the ashenslades. It just works so perfectly.

Also I know I’m using this mask again. I’m actually gonna use it for a couple more outfits coming up. I didn’t necessarily mean to make a bunch of outfits centered around that mask, but I was making a bunch of fall inspired outfits cause I’m tired of winter and want to go back to when it was warmer, and…it just kind of happened.

I tried taking some photos in the day too, but turns out I have a bad habit of making my outfits camouflage way too well. Which is AWESOME for playing, but kind of frustrating for taking pictures. Still, here’s a couple of my faves (sorry for the Mirkwood murkyness):

But yeah, taking pictures during the day was really hard. Basically, unless I was casting a spell, I couldn’t see myself at all (and the above photos have actually been brightened a bit).

Night was much friendlier 😉

Forest Traveller

So…after some debate, I just said screw it. I’m posting this outfit in green too. After all, the purpose of this blog is really for me to catalogue my favorite outfits for my own reference. And considering this has been my huntress’ main outfit for over a year now, I decided I would post it too. Even if it is essentially the same as the last outfit.

This outfit actually came first, as I mentioned in my last post. It has different shoulders than the previous outfit – these shoulders were my initial pick to go with this outfit, but when I dyed it all orange, the shoulders didn’t work as well. So that’s that.

I wanted to pick an elk to go with the outfit, but it proved a bit harder than last outfit. In the end I decided to highlight the Elk of Felegoth’s Glory, but I also couldn’t resist adding a warsteed as well. Oops.

Also I had a really hard time picking a spot to take pictures in. It was hard to balance finding a place that was lush and green enough while also not being too dark, as is often the problem with forests. I tried Northern Mirkwood first, but that was too dark. Then I tried Fangorn Forest, and that was pretty good, except for an overall murkiness and fog. I did end up using several photos from that though. I did then go to the Old Forest at the edge of Bree just for some last photos, and that was probably the best location I found.

It was still hard though to get pictures where the outfit stood out enough against all the green.

Holly Princess

So I didn’t understand why they added yet ANOTHER white rabbit to the yule fest. And then I saw a close up picture of it. And I fell in love.

I mean, look how cute it is!!!!!

Okay, so there is an outfit here too, featuring this year’s new festival cosmetics: the shire holly set. I dyed it Rohan green to match the color of the holly leaves (instead of the lighter, mint-y color it came in).

I even did the warsteed to match!

But seriously, look at the BUNNNYYYYYY

So. Majestic. (And I’m not talking about the dancing elf)

Robin Hood

I’ve decided it’s time I get around to more of the outfits I tend to use as default looks for my characters. So here’s one I use for my hunter, which may or may not be but definitely IS heavily inspired by the tale of Robin Hood lol 🙂

Sorry, deer. It’s really not personal…

So this outfit ended up being REALLY hard to take pictures of because it blended in way too well with the surroundings. Which I guess is the point? But I knew from the get go that I wanted to take the pictures in North Mirkwood/Dalelands…and it just…it worked too well lol.

The warsteed was really fun though. After recently opening some lootboxes I’ve gotten a lot of new cosmetics, including the warsteed set of the wild hills. I really like how it looks on my hunter’s steed.

Um…so…yeah. Not much to say! Not a particularly interesting outfit, just fun and ranger-y!

Queen of the Moon Moth

Okay, so I’ve been trying to figure out an outfit to go with the Moth cloak for SOOOO long. This summer it finally occurred to me that Galadriel’s gown from the Midsummer Festival looks an awful lot like a luna moth if you dye it bullroarer’s green.

It’s kind of amazing how much the color of the cloak changes depending on the lighting/reflection.

It took me a while to figure out what shoulders I wanted to use, then the obvious choice clicked into place. See, the Shoulders of the Lady’s Power (Champion Lothlorien raid armor) are LITERALLY shaped like butterfly wings. And moth’s look a lot like butterflies. So…yeah…Considering the dress makes it impossible to wear shoes or gloves, I only had to figure out a head piece, and the outfit was done!

It actually took a bit of work to figure out how to dye the warsteed outfit. I ended up using the burgundy dye to get the same sort of dark pink hue that the cloak has.

This also felt like an outfit where it was important to get photos in the day AND at night. Cause moths are often nocturnal, and the luna moth is particularly associated with the moon.

Outfit:
Head: Helm of the Lady's Power (Bullroarer's green)
Shoulders: Shoulders of the Lady's Power (Bullroarer's green)
Back: Cloak of the Moth
Body: Galadriel's Dress (Bullroarer's green)
Staff: Loremaster's Staff of the Third Age (Level 59)
Warsteed:
Head: Head-piece of the Moon Moth (Burgundy)
Body: Caparison of the Moon Moth (Burgundy)

Swan Knight

Been a while since I posted! This outfit was actually sitting in my wips folder – I think one day I’d been trying random combinations and found that the level 85 far-arrow jacket looked really good paired with the lesser defender of the west leggings. Anyways, apparently I took a screenshot, and after finding it I decided I had to complete the outfit.

Partner that up with some Nadhim cosmetics, and the rest kind of just fell into place (If you’re into LOTRO cosmetics you probably know that there’s a whole host of “bird/wing” related pieces out there that you can sort of fall back to when needed).

The warsteed outfit was also something that I was sort of working on. My only grudge against it is that the turquoise dye is slightly lighter for warsteed cosmetics than for character cosmetics, and given the nature of the two pieces this outfit was built around, I couldn’t really get away with using any other color.

So yeah, that’s about it. I wasn’t sure whether to feature this on my high elf champ or my high elf hunter, but ultimately my champ had the better warsteed cosmetics. Kind of sealed the deal. And since I can use my hunter’s Legendary bow as a cosmetic via the wardrobe, it was an easy decision.

Outfit:
Head: Heavy Nadhim Mask (white)
Shoulders: Shoulders of the Armoury (white)
Back: Swan Cloak (Turquoise)
Chest: Far-Arrow’s Jacket (Default/white)

Body: Sea-ward caparison (turquoise)
Legs: Sea-ward legs
Accessory: Accessory of regal revalry

Scout from Rivendell

This is another outfit I’ve had for awhile, just never got around to taking photos of. I was hoping to take pictures in daylight, but it turns out twilight and evening suited the outfit well.

I’ve really enjoyed my high elf huntress. She’s been so fun to play and make outfits for, and I’ve really embraced the nature vibes when it comes to her style 🙂

This outfit was really centered around the shoulders and the cloak. It’s a pretty fun outfit in my opinion – although it probably works best for the autumn. I’ll probably wear it come harvestfest and fall festival.

Into Wildermore

This was actually the first vales outfit I made, but in retrospect I’m glad I held off on taking screenshots until my huntress got her warsteed.

This is one of those outfits that came together almost immediately. I really don’t have much to say…I’m in the middle of exams and my brain is fried. All I have left is calculus…that doesn’t require much brain power…right?

I’m also still trying to figure out the graphics on my computer…I swear I always turn the graphics all the way up, and it’ll look great in game, and then I’ll take screenshots and it’ll be grainy. I’m actually getting a new computer soon – the one I currently have still runs windows 2007 and is over 10 years old. The screen is being held together with paper clips and the battery is dying and it doesn’t recognize a lot of newer wifi systems…but it’s fine. It runs LOTRO, after all, right?

Forest Warrior

So this is an outfit I’ve had in the works for some time, and in my gut I always knew how I wanted it to look, but I took awhile to post it because I kept making variations.

It’s probably one of my favorites that I’ve ever made – it’s just so sleek and deadly looking. So elegant yet functional.

It was actually pretty hard to find a scenery that would do the outfit justice. Eventually I actually decided on the Gravenwood in Dunland – it had the most greenery with the most wild growth that I could think of.

Before that I actually tried both the Trollshaws and Northern Mirkwood, but the former had too much red in the trees and the latter was just too dark.

It was also really fun to match it with the steed of they withywindle gear – it just fit so perfectly.

So yeah. I’m kind of worded out. But I love this outfit.

Outfit:
Head: Time-Worn Headpiece (dark green)

Enedwaith Watcher

Here’s an outfit I’ve had sitting on the back burner for a while – not quite sure why. I really liked it the moment I made it so I saved it to one of my RK’s outfit slots. I guess I was just waiting for the inspiration to hit to screen shot it.

It really all started when I got a hold of these shoulder guards – the Fine Camail of the Towers. You can barter for it using ash from a High Enchanter. Once I got them I went about constructing an outfit to match, and this is what I came up with.

This was an interesting case in which I dyed everything Lorien gold in an attempt to get that pale green color. Oftentimes when you use that particular dye you get a pale gold, but depending on what the backdrop color of the item is, you can get this shade of green.

I ended up in Enedwaith somehow, and decided that was the right location for the outfit. I haven’t actually done all that much questing in Enedwaith before – it’s free to VIPs, but otherwise you have to buy the region. It’s a very beautiful region though, and the Mournshaws are a particularly interesting area.

So that’s about all I have to say in regards to the outfit. Like I said, I made it a while ago, so I don’t really remember what was going through my head. Enjoy!

OUTFIT:
Shoulders: Fine Camail of the Towers (default)
Chest: The Bow-Master's Jacket (lorien gold)
Hands: The Bow-Master's Gloves (lorien gold)
Feet: Lesser Boots of the Dunlammad (default)
Back: Cloak of the Grey Company (lorien gold)
